Development Support Worker
For the last 17 years Laurie has enjoyed the multicultural event on Canada Day and vowed to one day work with (what must be) the amazing organization that coordinates it. Three years ago, she became the team leader of a private settlement support team and a few months later, formed her own government assistance refugee support team. These experiences of supporting families from Eritrea and Syria, introduced her to the people and work of the NCC but more significantly, the passion for helping other cultures settle in this beautiful community we live in.
After graduating from Trent University’s Bachelor of Business Administration program, Laurie backpacked around the world, worked in the event management field for 25 years and more recently returned to Trent University in a number of administrative roles. Laurie’s greatest loves are her family, walks in the woods with her black lab, friends, learning about other cultures and assisting them to learn about and live in our welcoming community.
