Service: Employment Information and Referral

Eligibility

All immigrants and refugees

We provide the following services:

  • Explaining how the job search process operates in Canada
  • Providing information on and referral to employment programs
  • Providing information on the local job market
  • Providing information on and referral to relevant organisations and resources that assist in self employment
  • Sending regular emails to job seekers on relevant networking, training and job opportunities

Note: We do not provide services that are available through other employment organisations (e.g. Employment Ontario agencies) but will help clients connect to those services.

 

Service: Credential Evaluation and Accreditation

Eligibility

All foreign trained or educated professionals

Location

Peterborough office; Cobourg office; Phone, Email, SKYPE

We provide:

• Overview of Ontario accreditation processes
• Information on and referral to credential evaluation services
• Information on and referral to bridging programs, accreditation loans and other support programs

Note: We do not assist individuals in filling in applications or forms related to credential evaluation or accreditation

 

Service: Employment Planning

Eligibility

All immigrants and refugees

Location

Peterborough office; Cobourg office; Phone, Email, SKYPE

We provide individual assistance in creating realistic short and long-term employment plan, especially in regards to using foreign work experience in Canada.

Note: We do not administer career aptitude tests

 

Service: Job Search Support

Eligibility

All immigrants and refugees where there are significant barriers to employment specific to the newcomer experience. Priority given to newcomers (less than 5 years in Canada)

Location

Peterborough office; Cobourg office

Our job search and employer connection support services include:

  • Assist individuals in creating or editing work related resume and cover letter
  • Support individuals in accessing Employment Ontario and other employment programs, including youth employment programs
  • Arrange informational interviews or mentorship connections where there are available programs, volunteers or other individuals in the required field
  • Provide support to individuals preparing for and attending job fairs
  • Provide interpretation support to individuals at job interviews and basic job orientation sessions
  • Meet with clients to debrief within 1-4 weeks of new employment

Note: Individuals must have and actively participate in their employment plan; employment support will relate directly to employment plan
