Hajni is a lawyer who finished teacher’s college and started a PhD program in political science in Hungary before moving to Canada in 2006. She worked in the Trent International Program office before joining the New Canadians Centre.
She loves her job and thinks that the mission of the NCC along with the amazing team makes it a very special place to work. Hajni takes pride and feels honoured to be able to help newcomers in our region. She believes immigrant integration is essential for our community's future prosperity and it is a responsibility we hold together.
Hajni is happy to serve as a governor on the Board of Fleming College since September 1, 2018. She also finds joy in music: she leads the Norwood Community Choir and sings with Westben Festival Chorus. She and her Canadian family have been dedicated volunteers with the Norwood Agricultural Fair for four generations.
In 2014, Hajni was the recipient of the inaugural ‘4 under 40’ award at the annual Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce awards. The ‘4 Under 40’ Profiles are designed to recognize four individuals in our community who are under the age of 40 and who are making their mark in the Peterborough area.
In 2017, Hajni received a Paul Harris award from the Rotary Club Peterborough Kawarthas. This is the highest recognition given by Rotary and recognizes those who exemplify the motto of Rotary which is the giving of “Service above Self”.
Hajni was one of the recipients of the inaugural Peterborough-Kawartha Women's Leadership Awards in October 2018.
