She graduated from Fleming College in Canada and became a licensed paralegal and a notary public. Iryna has experience as a community interpreter and course instructor at Trent University.

Iryna has been a volunteer at the United Way and the New Canadians Centre in Peterborough since 2014. She volunteered her time to assist the Ukrainian community that was growing due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. She has also been a member of the NCC's policy committee.
