Patricia Baxter is a social justice advocate who sees the value of implementing these ideals and activism into various contexts. She is very excited to be applying her skills to the New Canadians Centre and to help support immigrants and refugees in her own capacity as a Settlement Support Worker. She graduated with her Master of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies at Carleton University and completed her Bachelor of Arts, Honors, in Anthropology and Gender and Women’s Studies at Trent University.
Outside of the NCC Patricia is passionate about examining and discussing various topics surrounding identity and representation in various forms of media, which has led her to write several articles on the subject and to present her major research essay at the Fifth Annual Popular Culture Association of Canada conference. She is also an advocate for autistic people’s rights, as she is autistic herself. She enjoys reading, playing video games, and spending time with her cat.
