Bhisham is an immigrant from Trinidad & Tobago and also lived in Guyana for 13 years. He moved to Canada in 2013 as an international student, graduating from Trent University in 2017 with a BA (Hons) in History and International Development Studies. He also holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University focused on the intersections of clinical social work and EDI. Bhisham is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in Ontario.

Bhisham joined the New Canadians Centre staff in 2017. His work experience includes a blend of post-secondary student services, communications, non-profit project management, and mental health counselling. Outside of work, Bhisham enjoys walks in nature, cooking, photography and watching television.
