Leon’s Peterborough Helping New Canadians Live their Best Lives

Tom Reburn Jr. understands the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. “When it comes to health and well-being, proper sleep is everything,” says Reburn. The General Manager of Leon’s Peterborough would know. “I’ve suffered from a sleep disorder for years,” Reburn says. “When you don’t get your rest, it impacts everything you do. Even on the best of days it can be a struggle.  I can’t imagine what it’s like to go without getting proper rest for weeks, months and for some people, even years.”

Motivated by the desire to help people live their best lives, Reburn is generously donating a mattress and box spring set to newcomer families through the New Canadians Centre Peterborough (NCC).  “I’ve been working with the NCC’s Refugee Resettlement Coordinator Jack Gillan to determine which families are in desperate need of new bedding,” says Reburn.  “We made a significant donation of 3 mattress sets to a family who were plagued with bed bugs. Jack introduced me to Mohammad Moussa.  He was so grateful to have a new bed to sleep on. It was really good to meet him and have an understanding of who we are helping.”

 

And Reburn’s generosity doesn’t stop there. He’s a major sponsor of the annual Multicultural Canada Day Festival organized by the NCC. Held on July 1 in Crary Park, the event attracts more than 10,000 people annually. “Leon’s is sponsoring the Kids Zone. It’s a great opportunity to work with the NCC, connect with our community and educate people about the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. Especially kids.”
