5 Ways to Stay Motivated and Active While Schools are Closed
While we all stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be lonely and boring. There are some simple things we can do to help us stay focused, and keep our spirits up! Try these tips on your own, with a sibling, or with one or two friends at home!
1. Take a break from your Screens, Devices and PubG!
We all turn to our screens for entertainment when we stay at home, so remember to take a break and connect with those at home. Play board games, or make up a game yourself! Puzzles and card games can keep your mind stimulated, and give your eyes a break.
What are your favourite games to play at home?
2. When you do use your phone, try learning something new!
Get on YouTube to learn how to make a recipe or play and instrument, or download an app like Duolingo to practice a language!
What is something you’ve always wanted to learn?
3. Three Things I’m Grateful For Today …
Everyday write down, on a piece of paper or journal, three things you are grateful for. They can be small or big, people or things, food or activities! It can be difficult to realise how many great things you have in your life while staying at home for so long. Remember to stay positive and think of the good things around you every day!

4. One Routine Thing, Everyday
Routines may not seem important, but they actually help us stay focused, and help us with our mood. It can be hard to stay on a routine everyday when you’re at home. Choose one thing you like to do, or want to do, and make sure you do it every day!
What is the one promise you will make to yourself, to do everyday?
Here’s an example:
I want to do some exercise when I wake up to help me start my day, so every morning I will do 20 jumping jacks!
5. Go for a Walk!
Even though we need to stay at home, going for a short walk and fresh air are underrated ways to make you feel better. It releases endorphins in your body, and you’ll be surprised at how much better you will feel! Endorphins are hormones in your body that make you feel happy. Your body releases them when you exercise or stay active. Go outside, even 10 minutes on your own or your siblings!
