Emily Smith

Emily is a Certified Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessor (CLARS) and can provide newcomers with language assessments to enter language learning programs like the LINC and ESL programs.

Emily is a qualified elementary and secondary school teacher with a B.A. from Concordia University and a Master of Teaching from the University of Toronto. She brings over 15 years of experience as an international teacher, college professor, and teacher trainer. Though she grew up in Toronto, Emily lived and worked in Montreal, South Korea, the Dominican Republic, and Qatar before returning in 2023 to Ontario, Canada where she teaches college and university educators about education as well as general education courses at Centennial College, Scarborough. Languages, teaching, and learning have always been special interests while abroad or in Canada.

Through her own experiences, Emily deeply appreciates how complex it is to move to a new country and is humbled by the chance to be a part of the journey folks are on as they settle into life in Canada.
