Lubna is the Youth Worker at the New Canadians Centre, working with the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) team to engage newcomer youth in Peterborough-Nogojiwanong.

Born in Bahrain, Lubna came to Peterborough-Nogojiwanong from Cairo, Egypt, in 2013 to attend Trent University. She graduated in 2018 with Bachelors of Arts (Honours) in Psychology. As a university student, Lubna was a member of her college cabinet, and an orientation week leader, where she welcomed first-year university students to Trent and helped with the transition of being at University. She also began volunteering at the New Canadians Centre in 2016 with interpretation needs and joined a support group for a new Canadian family.

Since graduating, Lubna is Co-Editor-in-Chief at Arthur, the Trent University and Peterborough-Nogojiwanong Independent Student Press, and recently joined the team at the New Canadians Centre. As a young New Canadian herself, she is excited to be part of the team here, and help new Canadian youth through the programs and events offered!

Outside of the NCC, Lubna enjoys walks in nature, kayaking, Netflix, and ice cream.
