Maya Pereira

Maya is one of our CLARS assessors and is originally from Salmon Arm, British Columbia. At the start of 2022, Maya had never even heard of Peterborough but made the big move that summer and has since grown to love this wonderful community.

Maya completed her BA in Applied Linguistics at the University of Victoria in Victoria BC, where she also worked as an English language instructor and assessor in the not-for-profit sector. Currently, she is finishing her MA in Applied Linguistics through the University of Portsmouth.

Before joining the NCC’s CLARS team, she volunteered at the NCC and was an English language instructor for NCC’s English in the Workplace program.

In her free time, Maya enjoys playing in the community band, painting flowers, and spoiling her cat.
