Celebrating Music and Dance from Around the World at the New Canadians Centre’s Virtual Winter Celebration Party

Every December, we look forward to coming together with our community for the Winter Celebration Party. Traditionally held at Market Hall, the event attracts close to 100 people each year for a potluck-style feast, music, dancing, and cheer. It’s a wonderful way to usher in the holiday season and new year.

We know this event means a lot to newcomers. Now more than ever, community building is so important. This year, we set out to bring the same cheer and excitement to a virtual event and we didn’t forget the food! We offered a meal from Oasis Mediterranean Grill (OMG) for the first fifty clients to register for the party to enjoy during the event. Sincere thanks to dedicated NCC volunteers who delivered the meals to clients across Peterborough.

At the party, newcomers performed music, song, and dance spanning the globe from India to Venezuela, Scotland to the Middle East. They also shared holiday memories and traditions in their homelands.

Many thanks to the 90+ people who tuned in to the virtual party who included staff, clients, board and community members, dignitaries who delivered warm holiday greetings and stories, and the captivating and engaging performers, and our dedicated team of volunteers!
