ESL Forum Launches Online Inventory of ESL Services

September 2019 Edition of Partnership News by the Peterborough Immigration Partnership

The ESL Forum is a working group of the Peterborough Immigration Partnership. Monthly meetings are chaired by the New Canadians Centre, and English as a Second Language (ESL) providers in the Peterborough community discuss ESL programs, opportunities, needs, and challenges for newcomers.

This month, the Forum was pleased to launch a detailed inventory of ESL services in our community. The inventory is housed on the New Canadians Centre’s website and provides information on various ESL supports, classes, and online tools available to ESL learners at varying language levels.

The Forum is also currently planning its annual ESL Forum Professional Development event in collaboration with the Trent University’s ESL Program and Peterborough Alternative and Continuing Education (PACE). If you are not affiliated with a local ESL provider but would like to learn more about how you can participate in this event, please contact Reem Ali.

Established in 2008, the Peterborough Immigration Partnership (PIP) is a community-based partnership of individuals & organisations which envisions a community where the meaningful economic, social and cultural integration of newcomers ensures a prosperous and inclusive community for all. The New Canadians Centre is the lead member for the partnership.
