Introduction to Pow Wows Info-Session

September 16, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Learn about Pow Wows before you visit the Curve Lake Pow Wow this year!

Pow Wows are a gathering that honours and celebrates Indigenous culture. The annual gathering celebrates the renewal of life and old friendships and the forming of new ones. It often involves traditional dancing, drumming, singing, ceremony, and food.

The Curve Lake Pow Wow will happen this year on September 17 & 18, and the New Canadians Centre is planning a trip for NCC clients to the Pow Wow on September 18.

Before the trip, we invite you to attend this orientation session to learn more about the Pow Wow, the activities and observances, and the proper etiquette as visitors to the Pow Wow.

This info-session is open to NCC clients going on the trip and the wider community interested in learning more about the gathering.

This session is facilitated by Meeg Snake, a singer in the Snake Island Drum Group and emcee.

Registration Required. Please register here.
