Janine has a love of learning that has influenced much of her journey in life. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree (primary/junior), with additional qualifications in Kindergarten and Classroom Management. She has previously been employed at the University of Waterloo working as a Community Advisor where she had the opportunity to support international students and their families. She later worked in Continuing Education at Wilfrid Laurier University before returning to the Peterborough area to raise her family. After some time teaching in the Kawarthas (preschool – grade six), Janine began her current role leading the CNC (Care of Newcomer Children) program at NCC.
Through the CNC program, Janine and her team strive to create a safe space where every child feels welcome, included, and valued. She selects meaningful professional development to constantly reflect on and implement best practices. With an emphasis on child-led play, Janine hopes to encourage, inspire, and challenge each child to become their most authentic self.
