Lubna is the Youth Worker at the New Canadians Centre, working with the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) team to engage newcomer youth in Peterborough-Nogojiwanong.
Born in Bahrain, Lubna came to Peterborough-Nogojiwanong from Cairo, Egypt, in 2013 to attend Trent University. She graduated in 2018 with Bachelors of Arts (Honours) in Psychology. She loves helping others, and welcoming people to a new environment. At Trent, she welcomed first-year university students and helped with the transition of being at University. Lubna also began volunteering at the New Canadians Centre in 2016 with interpretation needs and joined a support group for a new Canadian family.
Since graduating, Lubna was Co-Editor-in-Chief at Arthur Newspaper before joining the New Canadians Centre. She is grateful to be part of a rich community, and help newcomers to Canada settle into their new home.
Outside of the NCC, Lubna enjoys walks in nature, rowing, and watching movies.
