Multicultural Canada Day Festival returns on July 1
Each year the New Canadians Centre brings together a fantastic group of international food and craft vendors and stage performers from around the world to present the organization’s annual Multicultural Canada Day Festival.
“This year marks the 40th anniversary of the New Canadians Centre in Peterborough. In times of change and uncertainty, this has stayed the same: our commitment to empowering newcomers to become full and equal members of our society. The annual Multicultural Canada Day Festival is one of the few times newcomers have the chance to celebrate their traditions and customs in a community setting. It is very meaningful on so many levels and we are honoured to work together with our community partners, sponsors, and local media to put this Festival on every year in the city of Peterborough,” says Hajni Hos, Executive Director of the New Canadians Centre
For the past 15 years, the New Canadians Centre has proudly organised the annual Multicultural Canada Day Festival. This family-friendly event aims to #bringpeopletogether to celebrate community, diversity and inclusion. Through our Vendor Market, International Zone, and Stage Show, the festival highlights a diversity of cultures and presents opportunities to engage as a community.
Join us on Monday, July 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. at Del Crary Park as we present the Multicultural Canada Day Festival. There will be an opportunity to try foods from around the world including Thailand, Russia, Bangladesh, the Caribbean, and Syria. New world activities will be set up to test your knowledge of Canada and share about different cultures through art, music, literature, and games.
Everyone can enjoy the face-painting, henna tattoos and activities at the Kids Zone sponsored by Tim Horton’s.
We encourage everyone to bring their own dishes and cutlery so that we can continue our efforts to Green the event.
This “Celebrate Canada” event is generously supported in part by Canadian Heritage, and by our sponsors Tim Horton’s and Fleming College, with thanks to all of our media partners for promoting it.
