NCC Spring Dinner Party: Celebrating Newcomers and Volunteers Together
On May 1st, 40 volunteers and 80 new Canadians attended our NCC Spring Dinner Party – an opportunity to celebrate all they have achieved together by sharing a wonderful evening of food, music and dance at the Canadian Canoe Museum.
The event gave NCC staff and newcomers a chance to thank the dedicated volunteers who provide vital help as members of refugee support teams, group facilitators, event assistants, and English tutors. It was also an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the multicultural community that is the NCC.
With a welcome and dance from NCC volunteer, Olivia Howard, of Hiawatha First Nation, Syrian food (excellently catered by Oasis Mediterranean Grill), Indian classical and Bollywood dancing (from the amazing Ukti – Centre for Movement and Arts) and words of thanks from Olga Zelenskaya, originally from Kazakhstan, it was an inspiring and memorable evening.
Thank you to Jo Ong for volunteering as the Event Photographer.
