Job Posting: Executive Director

Posting date: July 29, 2019
Closing date: August 23, 2019

The New Canadians Centre Peterborough is seeking an accomplished and highly collaborative leader to build on the work of previous Executive Directors. As the NCC’s next Executive Director, you inherit a stable but dynamic organization, a committed and experienced senior management team, a highly capable and motivated staff, a dedicated Board and volunteer team and a compelling community mission. We have a lot to offer.

As an experienced NGO sector manager, you are as adept at hands-on administration and decision-making as you are at identifying and articulating strategic priorities. You have a reputation as a positive, enthusiastic and practical leader – as comfortable telling our clients’ stories at the podium as you are analyzing funding scenarios to maximize resources on a spreadsheet. The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years progressive management experience in the community-based, not-for-profit sector and demonstrates successful operational, project and change leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. You possess a strong track record in stakeholder advocacy, communications, fundraising, funder negotiation, community relations and team development. You understand that mission-driven organizations succeed on the strength of their teams and are best served by leaders who are authentic, humble, honest and direct. You know how to mentor and inspire; you know how to get things done.

As the primary spokesperson for the organization, you ensure the NCC’s services and mission are consistently presented in a strong and positive manner.  As a strategist, you scan the environment, mindful of potential problems while at the same time seeking opportunities to work with the Board and community partners to address stakeholder challenges in new ways. You are simultaneously a creative problem solver and a pragmatic doer.
